Here\u2019s a decorating idea perfect for globetrotters: Use an old school pull-down classroom map, and you have a wall made for wanderlusters!  My almost 8-year old had long outgrown the animal alphabet print that once adorned a wall in his room, but we hadn\u2019t found anything that would be a good replacement.<\/p>\n

One day over Christmas break we found this awesome old school map of Asia at Five Thirty Home<\/a> in Zionsville, a small town near Indianapolis. I\u2019m not sure of its date of origin, but it\u2019s after the dissolution of the USSR, before Yugoslavia split and Burma was Myanmar. So it\u2019s not an antique, but it is historical. Perfect for my budding geographer and world traveler!<\/p>\n

As I have been known to procrastinate just a bit, we have only now hung it on the wall. Our home renovation expertise pretty much stops and ends at painting and putting nails in the wall to hang pictures, but installation was easy.  We took the roller pole it hangs from out of the original metal hanging mechanism, mounted some curtain rod brackets, and rested the ends on the brackets. The hardest part was making sure the brackets were level.<\/p>\n

The colors are bright and stand out against the turquoise wall, but I think it would look great against almost any background hue. And, it\u2019s great for kids young and old, as well as for any room in your home.  I\u2019m already roaming around the house trying to figure out where we could add another big map.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve seen pull-down school maps at antique shops, but you can also find them on ebay<\/a> from $75 and up.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m no Joanna Gaines, but I am pretty proud of myself!<\/p>\n
